Leave The Mud Camp

Leave The Mud Camp

In a dream a friend and I were walking down a road when we found ourselves entering a camp. The street was muddy, the homes were old broken railroad cars and rusted trailers surrounded by mud. Mud was everywhere, and everyone we saw was dirty and caked with mud. I knew that we had to leave this area, or we would soon become part of the landscape. I turned to grab my friend’s hand, but she had wanderedmuddy footprints over to a bench to sit down. She was watching some children play in the mud and she was talking to some of the residents. I told her “let’s go, we need to keep going.” But she said she wanted to sit and rest, that she was tired and wanted to just relax and talk with her new friends. After pleading with her again to keep walking, I was quickened with urgency to leave but my friend didn’t want to leave with me at that moment. I had no choice but to turn and carefully trudge through the muddy road and slowly make my way out of the bog. The further away from the mud camp I walked, the mud began to dissipate, and the road become smooth and dry. As I was pondering having to leave my friend behind, the Lord said “the mud represents the old life and its beliefs that cause bondage to ideas, images, opinions, habits and prejudices. Many people remain there as it overwhelms them to know they must discard everything to get free from it. I have provided the way and provided sojourners with the strength to walk through it and leave the mud camp. But not everyone chooses to leave behind the old life.”
