Same Ol’, Same Ol’

Same Ol’, Same Ol’

In a dream, I didn’t have anywhere to go and couldn’t see where I was going to live. It was distressing and I was very upset. Things had been changing in my life, but now there seemed to be a deafening silence and a confusion I didn’t understand. On a walk, I bumped into the couple who had purchased my previous house.

After exchanging pleasantries, they asked how I was doing and where I was living, so I told them of my current dilemma that I didn’t think I had anywhere to go. A man sitting on the couch with his head in his handsThey immediately told me that I could move in with them in my old house because they were planning on selling it and moving to a different location where both of their jobs got relocated. They said it would be easy just for me to move back in, and they would then just sell the house back to me.

I took my belongings and went to the house. It was a mess; the walls, the floors, the landscaping, and so much junk—almost to the level of hoarding. And in this mess, I saw many of the furnishings, pictures, and décor items that were mine when I lived there. I didn’t like that the house was in such disorder and disrepair, but it was my former house and since I was familiar with it, I decided to move in and ‘re-own’ it.

Interpretation:
When you are in a place that you don’t really know or recognize that is caused by the metamorphic work, you can be tempted to want to revert back or return to what is familiar. It helps you ‘feel’ better. But changing for the sake of change isn’t really a change—changing a venue cannot be a substitute for the truth. Stop, breathe and cooperate with the work being done, even though in the middle of a change it is unfamiliar—and it can be very quiet and confusing. This quiet inactivity leads to total surrender. Refuse to go running back to what is familiar. Symptoms of change are temporary afflictions, ailments or distress, strong, mild or weak, and affect the current mental, physical, and emotional balance. Be patient and breathe into the patience as it continues in its perfect work.
