Who’s your King?

Who’s your King?

Christian author O.S. Hawkins writes in one of his books, “more than any other book in the Bible, Judges describes the times in which we are living in today. The last line of this book speaks volumes about their situation…and ours: ‘Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.’”

a crown of thorns on a black backgroundThe theme of the book of Judges is that when there is no king in our life, there is no standard to live by, and we use our own desires and personal judgement of right and wrong. As we read in Judges, chaos and moral decay ensue.

“No Kings” protests have made headline news recently. But the truth is: We need a king: THE True King! This King role is ultimately filled in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Jesus provides our standard for all things pertaining to righteousness, offers redemption from sin, and seats us with Him sending us the power of the Holy Spirit to bring the heavenly realm to earth, and gives us authority over the enemy.

Under the best intentions, self-rule has dire consequences. But aligning ourselves with God’s purposes, we will experience blessings beyond what we can even imagine. Each day, perform a sincere heart-check for any self-rule. Then submit to God’s authority and live under His influence, and follow the path of the Spiritual Journey in which only He can lead. Let’s not rely on doing what is right in our own eyes. Find the True King and live right in His eyes.
